Petition calls on Fredericton to declare climate emergency

The St. Thomas University’s Students’ Union signed a petition by the Council of Canadians‘ Fredericton chapter demanding local climate action.

As a non-profit advocating for green energy, the Council of Canadians calls on the City of Fredericton to declare a climate emergency and implement the Community Energy and Emissions Plan.

Among other signers are STU Divest and STU Sustainability.

    Winter Formal

Anahí Álvarez, STUSU’s vice president of student life, said the union is in the process of organizing the venue, food and decorations for the winter formal on Dec. 8.

It is also paying $1,067.20 to transport students by bus to the Fredericton Inn from campus.

Tickets go on sale next week.
