    Changes to constitution and bylaws

Changes to STUSU’s constitution and bylaws were proposed on Thursday, Sept. 22 that would restructure the council.
Changes to the constitution would include removing the three representative at-large positions and replacing them with four new positions. The proposed positions include a sexual diversity representative, an international student representative, an aboriginal representative and a social inclusion representative to represent all other minorities.
Proposed bylaw changes would eliminate the responsibilities of both student senators and the student board of governors. Their presence would still be welcomed at STUSU meetings, however these non-voting members would no longer be required to attend.
Finally, a bylaw would be amended to allow temporary replacements to be appointed to positions on council, should an executive leave their position during the term.
A vote on the changes to the constitution and bylaws was tabled for two weeks, until Oct. 6, upon which time there will be a vote.

    Yearbook funds to be reallocated

STUSU executives said while they lacked enough funds to create a physical yearbook this year, the funds normally used for yearbooks will be reallocated. Executives plan to funnel the funds into clubs and societies but also plan to use them to create a new website for STUSU.
The budget amendment to allow this reallocation will be voted on at the next council meeting on Sept. 29.

    Enrolment numbers released

Enrolment at STU has dropped once again. This year’s enrolment numbers were released and show enrolment at 1805. Vice-president education Sam Titus said while it was expected enrolment would drop once again this year, this number shows improvement from drops seen in previous years.

    STUgenda access

STUgendas are now available at the Help Desk, though the full order has not yet been fulfilled.
It was noted the printers had technical difficulties which is why the agendas were so late.
They are slowly being delivered in waves and a shipment of 200 was recently received. They will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis.

    Help Desk employee update

While over 30 students had volunteered to work at the Help Desk before term started, the Help Desk is still looking to recruit more volunteers.
A new incentive program has been instituted which is aimed at attracting students to the position. The incentives include pizza parties and draws for prizes. The incentive program will be a monthly event, but will alternate between draws and pizza parties on a month-to-month basis.
