More Than Tuition campaign update
Alex Nguyen, president of the St. Thomas University Students’ Union, said members are working on a report based on the “More Than Tuition” campaign, which launched in the summer to tackle the assumption that tuition is the only concern for students.
In the campaign’s first phase, STUSU surveyed students on concerns for the academic year and general knowledge of advocacy on campus. The second phase includes on-campus and in-person advocacy campaigns starting in November.
The report is due this month.
Fall by-election
Alex Nguyen, president of the St. Thomas University Students’ Union, said STUSU will hold its fall by-election in October to fill the 14 vacancies on its team. To keep students in the loop Nguyen said they plan to organize an information session for Sept. 23.
The campaign period will go from Sept. 26 to Oct. 3. STUSU encourages candidates to do their campaigns online because it is more sustainable than printing posters. The by-election will also take place online.
Ice cream event
Alex Nguyen, president of the St. Thomas University Students’ Union, said STUSU will host an ice cream event on Sept. 25 with the student association at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design.
The event starts at 4 p.m. in the college’s courtyard and is also open to students from the University of New Brunswick and the New Brunswick Community College.
