Funding approval and club constitution review
St. Thomas University Students’ Union vice-president administration Matt Oram said the governance and finance committee met with two social work students to approve a funding request to go to Romania to present research at the Social Work International Conference.
It also reviewed a club application from the French Society and went over the constitutions of the English Early Drama Society and the Investment Club.
New Women’s Centre liaison
St. Thomas University Students’ Union at-large representative Graci Young is the new liaison between the STUSU and the University Women’s Centre, an information resource centre for safe sex, sexual health, safe injections, social and education programs, women’s shelters and safe space space on campus. They are located in room 129 at the University of New Brunswick’s Student Union Building.
Community Food Smart
St. Thomas University Students’ Union vice-president student life Sarah Kohut said she won’t accept Community Food Smart order requests after noon of the first Thursday of each month.
Rigby Hall wing reps
St. Thomas University Students’ Union Rigby Hall representative Dillon Caldwell-Bezanson said now Rigby has all their floor representatives.
Youth Action Gathering Summit conference
St. Thomas University Students’ Union president Husoni Raymond and social inclusion representative Dorcas Tshimenga attended a conference for immigrant and refugee youth in Canada coming together and participating in workshops.
Campus Events Committee
St. Thomas University Students’ Union vice-president student life Sarah Kohut met with the campus events committee, a new committee focused on improving student life on campus. It has members from Student Services and Residence Life, St. Thomas University’s communications department and STUSU.
Off-campus group announcements
Halloween movie night will take place on Oct. 29, from 5:30 to 11:30 in the off-campus lounge.
Off-campus group meetings are on Thursdays at 6 p.m.
