STUISA receives funding
The St. Thomas University International Students’ Association will receive $500 in funding from the students union for their annual multicultural cultural fair.
The request for funding came in three suggested amounts, either $1,000, $500 and $150, though amounts in between would have been accepted.
A debate was had at the meeting about whether the international student’s association needed that amount of money.
On one side of the argument was the point that the international students’ association is one of the largest and therefore richest STU communities and the fair functions mostly off a volunteer staff, and therefore did not need a large amount of money.
On the other side of the argument was that the multicultural fair is the organization’s biggest event and draws a sizable crowd.
After it was established no one wanted to fund them as little as $150, nor as much as $1,000 the students union decided on $500.

The students union will hear the request, Megan Thomson said she was “not hopeful” about the post.
VP Admin meets with city about buses
Ben Graham, vice president of administration, met with the city Friday to discuss the potential bus strike.
Graham said while the city was open to hearing any plans the students union had to cope with the potential strike, the city had no new information to give Graham.
Graham said they expect to hear more news Monday morning at 11 a.m.
Until then the union is looking into using school buses as an alternative method of ferrying students to school.
