A pedestrian struck by a vehicle while crossing Montgomery Street was treated for injuries before being released from hospital.
At 8:30 a.m. Thursday, the third-year female UNB nursing student was crossing Montgomery Street at the path from McLeod to Holy Cross House when she was hit by a taxi.
Police and ambulance arrived on the scene, and she was taken to Everett Chalmers Hospital to treat scrapes, bruises and a broken collarbone.
Randy Mahoney, a spokes man for UNB Security, said speed wasn’t a factor in the accident.
“The sun was definitely a factor,” he said. “The sun was in the driver’s eyes, and it was very hard to see anyone coming. The driver wasn’t speeding.”
He said police aren’t charging the driver.
