Fourth-year St. Thomas University student Mary-Dan Johnston has won the Rhodes Scholarship.
The scholarship is valued at approximately $100,000 and pays for a post-graduate degree at Oxford University.
The 22-year-old interdisciplinary student from Halifax, Nova Scotia was one of about 50 Maritime applicants who applied, and 11 who were interviewed in Charlottetown, P.E.I. this weekend.
Each year, scholarships are awarded to 11 Canadian students with GPAs of at least 3.75. Rhodes scholars are well-rounded students, with involvement in athletics, volunteer work and high grades.
