Every year the manager of the Lunar Rogue holds a festival at the Delta that invites the “Who’s Who” of Fredericton to taste a wide variety of whisky. From the start of the night to the end, there really is nothing negative I could say about this event. From the endless array of drinks to the tables full of food, it was the perfect night out.
I could write a novel about all the different types of drinks and what they’re all about, but for STU Dines, I find it’s appropriate to let you know why this event applies to you.
You should always be aware of what you’re drinking. You should also know that you can pair just about any drink with a dish or two. Fine wine and whisky have specificities that can bring out the taste of different meats and sides.
The festival had booths set up to give free samples and to educate the 600 attendees on the various unique qualities their drinks possessed. Some of the information I learned and the atmosphere I felt will stay with me for the rest of my life, and this is an event I feel no one should pass up. It’s held every year around the same time.
Many of the hundreds of scotch, rye, and Irish whiskys can be found at the Lunar Rogue, and range from five dollars to close to 85 dollars a shot. I suggest you educate yourselves, and don’t forget to tip the bartender. In the case of the Rogue, ask for Dan.
