WHO WAS ST. VALENTINE?
Who St. Valentine really was is hard to say. Some sources tell the story of him being a priest who secretly married Roman soldiers and saved them from going to war, because the Emperor at the time thought good soldiers were single men. When the Emperor found out about the secret weddings, Valentine was caught, imprisoned and beheaded. Others say he refused to deny his Christian beliefs before the Emperor. Another story is that Valentine healed the jailer’s blind daughter. Before he was executed, he left her note that ended with “your Valentine.”
KISSING RECORDS
According to Guiness World Records, Joni Rimm was probably the person who received the most expensive kiss at an auction. He paid $50,000 to kiss actress Sharon Stone in August 2003.
German Volksmusik star Florian Silbereisen holds the record for the most kisses given in one minute. In 60 seconds he kissed 117 women in the audience.
Ekkachai Tiranarat and Laksana Tiranarat from Thailand kissed for the longest time – 58 hours, 35 minutes and 58 seconds.
