The three-week holiday break allowed students to recharge the batteries and prepare for another exciting semester at STU.
Second semester is upon us, as is a new calendar year. Keeping with annual tradition, many have made resolutions for 2014.
Common goals include eating healthier, going to the gym or working harder for better grades. I don’t often make New Year’s resolutions, as I try to be a better person year-round rather than just with the arrival of another year.
During my first semester at STU, I grew a lot as a person and regularly made use of the STU gym to improve my physical condition. Maintaining work habits similar to those that worked in high school, combined with partying only in moderation, allowed me to earn good grades.
I am optimistic that, if I keep doing what has worked before, I may be rewarded with continued success. I don’t often procrastinate or give anything less than my best effort in class.
This week’s piece will be my final first-year student life column, as most first-year students have adjusted well to university life. I have enjoyed sharing my experiences through this column every week, and being able to help others who can relate to my journey has been rewarding.
I will miss writing the column, but I look forward to contributing to The Aquinian in other ways this semester working towards an education and career in journalism.
To my fellow students, best of luck this semester, and I’ll see you around campus.
