ITS warns of WebAdvisor crashes Wednesday, Thursday mornings

After 3rd year students overwhelmed the WebAdvisor system on Monday, STU’s IT Services department is warning the same thing could happen again this Wednesday and Thursday.

The electronic registration system crashed minutes after it was opened up to students at 6:00 A.M. on Monday.  ITS estimates that it was down for 45 minutes, though it felt longer to students who woke up early to get the courses they needed.

Dan Hurly, the head of ITS, sent out an email today warning students of situation tomorrow morning.  He says they will be  prepared for problems.

“We have procedures in place and staff will be on hand to respond rapidly if this this situation happens again. We hope that we can keep any loss of service to shorter time period.

But he also warned they can only do so much.

“Even under the best of conditions you will likely find Webadvisor to be slow during the peak registration periods.”
