Harrington Hall was down some ceiling tiles, windowpanes, and few chunks of wall last weekend after a particularly ragin’ party.

The house held a “wing crawl” Oct. 25, which saw each wing of the house decorated to host different parties at different times of the night.

But it was after the party that the trouble started.

Residence life director Ryan Sullivan said a male resident came home between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. and punched holes in ceilings and walls.

The resident also broke two windowpanes.

Several ceiling tiles on the second floor came down, leaving wires exposed.

An electrician had to be called in upon discovery of the damage.

Sullivan says the resident had been drinking, though he did not attend the wing crawl.

“Alcohol was a factor,” he said. “The student has agreed that alcohol won’t be consumed for the rest of the academic year.”

Sullivan said the resident responsible came forward to residence life, and is taking full responsibility for the incident.

He says the resident apologized to the house, and is willing pay for all damages he caused.

“When he came forward he presented us with how he felt he could make it up to the house. He was fined on top of the damage, and he’ll be doing volunteer work in the house, along with the apology to the house and the alcohol probation,” said Sullivan

The student was fined $100 on top of the cost of damages, which is between $900 and $1,000.

A fire extinguisher was also discharged that evening, but Sullivan says that incident is not related to the rest of the vandalism. He said it was the fourth fire extinguisher to be “tampered with” in recent weeks.
