Thibeau acting VPSL

Thibeau is acting VPSL until a new one is elected (Submitted)

Henri Thibeau has his plans for his five week appointment as vice president student life.

“I want to start an initiative looking at student services at other similar sized universities in the Atlantic provinces. I want to see what they have compared to us and what we could also facilitate on our campus and research in to it and leave a good foundation for the vice president student life elect to work on” said Thibeau.

During his first week in office he started this job by asking all house representatives to ask their house committees about what services students would like to see next year. Thibeau has also been keeping busy working on getting a comments box set up outside the help desk where students can leave comments, queries and concerns about the help desk, student services, or the students’ union.

Thibeau came to the position after Nicole Pozer was asked to resign by the Students’ Executive Council last week.

When the 20-year-old residence advisor of Holy Cross House was first approached by president John Hoben, he thought it was about the member at large position he was elected to in the by-election. “I remember thinking I haven’t even gone to an SRC meeting yet, what did I do wrong?” said Thibeau.

Hoben approached him because they have worked together before.

“I felt he could definitely handle it and he was capable and he had the qualifications. If you look at Nicole’s resume she was president of Rigby and then an RA, and Henri was president of Rigby and now he’s an RA” said Hoben.

Thibeau accepted the appointment with the understanding that he will not run for the position in the by election when it happens.
