Pulling Out My Hair, April 7

Billy Fong – The Aquinian

Did I throw you all off last week?

Good. That was the intention. Over the last eight months I’ve written things I regret, but at the same time it’s always been the truth.

But some things, I suppose, I should have just kept to myself.

When I started writing this column I only had one target in mind…hippies. And I think I was a little unfair. But at the same time, you hippies just make it so damn easy. You’re really asking for it.

The other target that soon came to mind was the religious right. Your ignorance and denial of the fact that it’s a prejudice to not give the gay community the same rights to marriage as everyone else is just completely amazing to me. You have this tunnel vision, and you manipulate what is said in the bible to back up your argument, and really, there is no argument here.

I think the most amazing thing I’ve heard in response to my columns this year was that what I said about hippies in my Top 5 reasons why God doesn’t exist list was a “hate crime”.

My head almost fucking exploded.

Hate crime? Seriously? I have nothing against the Student Union, mostly because I don’t give a shit about anything to do with them. They organize events for good causes, and for that I applaud them.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I like Duncan, I think he does a swell job at what he does.

But this election bullshit is getting

out of motherfucking hand! What is going on here?

From my understanding (and bear with me, I don’t really know the details of what’s going on, because, again, I don’t care) the reason for this re-election debate is because some of the ballots were cut up wrong, right?

And the other guy’s name was only partly shown on the ballot.

THERE WERE ONLY TWO PEOPLE RUNNING.

If you went up to the ballot, saw Mark Henick and then saw Craig Maz….but the rest of the name was cut off, and you had intended on voting for this Craig guy…did you think to yourself “Oh gosh, well I wanted to vote for Craig but his whole name isn’t there, only part of his name, so now I’m confused.”

If anything this whole re-election debacle is insulting to those who voted.

You know what these people who are playing government are really saying about you voters? You were too dumb to figure out who the only other person’s name was on the ballot because it was partially cut off.

So because of your idiocy the whole election was completely fucked! Okay, sure there are arguments of other discrepancies that happened during the election. Those running the voting tables didn’t do their jobs right, etc.

So what?

Then maybe you guys should have done a screening process for who was at these tables. But I didn’t see any of them doing their job wrong. The table I went to was run quite professionally. I think the people “appealing” this whole thing are really reaching and wasting time.

What’s happening now is a complete waste of time.

I have nothing against either Henick or Mazerolle. But ultimately, Henick won. I’m sorry Craig. Just let it go man, there are more vital things we could be concerning ourselves with right now.

This isn’t one of them. Myself, I did not vote.

I voted for one thing, valedictorian, because that’s the only one that actually affected me. I don’t think graduating students should get to vote for whoever is going to president after they’re gone.

How does that make any fucking sense? There that’s it. I’m fucking done. This is the last you’ll ever hear from me, and the best part about this week’s column is that no one can write a letter to the editor! This is the last issue suckers!
