The Tommies play their first game of the season against Acadia (Submitted)

The men’s hockey team has as many wins as losses for the first time in recent years after playing their first two games of the regular season this weekend.

The Tommies headed to Acadia to play the Axemen on Friday night. The team maintained a 1-0 lead until the third, when they couldn’t keep out of the penalty box. Goaltender Jonathan Groenheyde was busy for most of the game, making 54 saves. The team lost 3-1.

On Saturday the Tommies visited Dalhousie, where the team scored three powerplay goals to beat the Tigers 4-3 and claim their first win of the regular season.

The win marks the first time the Tommies have the same amount of wins and losses for many of the players.

This is also the first win of the season for Pat Powers, who has previously said the motivation behind the players is not wanting to be a last place team again.

The Tommies host their home openers this weekend against Acadia and Dalhousie, where they hope to grab four more points.
