You blinked and now it’s November.

We all tell ourselves we’ll get active. It happens every school year. Before you know it, the wind is nipping at your exposed cheeks and you avoid going anywhere – especially the O’Keefe Centre.

But winter doesn’t have to be all bad. Luckily, Fredericton has a pretty alright indoor fitness scene. And even better, it’s actually kind of fun. If you’re looking to stay active this winter without putting your fingers at risk of frostbite, or are new to the area and want to have some laughs while burning calories, here are some places to check out:

Kingswood: No one is too cool for laser tag or whack-a-mole. Kingswood offers bowling, an arcade, a plastic ice surface for hockey and loads more. I’ve spent a lot of time trying to win that inflatable shark but I always end up with Chinese finger traps. Kingswood is one of the few surviving businesses that’s focused on good, clean family fun. But, there’s also a bar. The bus stops at Kingswood so although it’s a bit of a ways away, it’s a cheap ride for some cheap fun.

 Body Slim Fitness: I haven’t personally used Body Slim before, but I’ve heard from a few people it’s pretty cool. It’s just your average run-of-the-mill fitness boot camp, but they do book parties. Lap dance parties. That’s right. If you and 11 friends want to learn how to give a lap dance and you have around $200, your night is planned. And don’t worry if you don’t plan to give lap dances, it’s a great workout all on its own.

Dynamic Fitness: This is for the yoga enthusiast in all of us. If you like your fitness trendy, this is the place to go. It combines a yoga studio with a clothes boutique, just in case you forgot your Oakleys at home. They offer hot classes to help detox and strengthen the body. They have sweet deals for students and faculty and also have a promo package set up for first-timers who just have to see what it’s about.

J.B. O’Keefe Centre: You don’t even have to go anywhere. The O’Keefe Centre offers a bunch of great classes and, chances are, you’ve already paid for some of them. It offers loads of exercise equipment, some of which can be boring, but in the end it still works. If you want to know more, you can seriously just walk next door.

I’ve told you guys before, do what you can. If you don’t want to sweat out your organs in a sauna, you don’t have to. Just remember that Old Man Winter doesn’t have to slow you down.

I bet he’s never had a lap dance.
