Campus briefs – Feb. 12th

    Bake sale
    STU Best Buddies will be having a Valentine’s Day Bake Sale on Feb. 14 in Sir James Dunn Hall cafeteria between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The baked goods can be bought by donation. There will also be a “I’ve got a Crush on you,” fundraiser, where pop will be sold for $1 and can be bought for others as gift tags and passed around. Tickets will be sold all week to win a necklace donated by Spicer Cole, which will be given to the winner on Valentine’s Day. Tickets will be sold from Monday until the 14th.

    Exploring Plato
    The Great Books program will be hosting “Exploring Plato’s Republic: ‘The Constitution of the Republic’ with Patrick Malcolmson. The event will be take place in the Holy Cross conference room between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Feb. 14. This event is part of a series of lectures exploring Plato’s Republic, as St. Thomas University faculty investigates the many themes of the philosophical work.

    Wellness Week
    Wellness Week is back at STU with events from Feb. 18 to Feb. 23. These events will include “Wellness Jeopardy,” “Understanding Mental Health and Mental Illness,” “Snowshoe Races in the Courtyard,” “Naturopathic Medicine,” “Why Organic?” “Exams and Stress: Improving Your Performance,” “Wellness Corner,” Curling and Bingo.     History Information Session
    The history department will be hosting an Honours Programme Information Session on Monday, Feb. 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in ECH 201. Students interested in learning more are welcome to attend. Faculty and current honours students will be available to answer any questions you might have. Refreshments will be available.
