‘Bubbly’ grad class president candidate used to planning events

    Brittany Arsenault

    Year: Third
    Major: Communications and English
    Hometown: Rothesay, N.B.
    Previous STUSU experience: N/A

Running unopposed, Brittany Arsenault will be the grad class president for the class of 2013, pending a yes or no vote Tuesday and Wednesday.

Arsenault has three years experience coordinating events with the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation in Saint John.

A communications and English double major, Arsenault has come to love organizing events, which she feels are an integral part of the grad class experience.

Self-described on her Twitter account as “charming as all-get-out,” she hopes to use her confidence and openness to connect with next year’s grad class.

“I have a lot of friends who are graduating this year and for the most part, none of them even knew who the current grad class president is…I will make sure [my grad class hears] from me whether they like it or not,” she said with a laugh.

Some of the events she is excited to plan are a grad class “meet and greet,” a possible TreeGo trip, potluck and movie nights, as well as the infamous grad class pubcrawl.

“I’m definitely not shy,” she said, describing herself as “bubbly.”

Arsenault’s strong personality, as well as a background in communications, are what will help her achieve her goals of being an effective liaison between the grad class and the STUSU, she said. It will also help ensure every grad class member has a voice in deciding which events to have.

“I hope that together we can organize events that appeal to all grads and get everyone in attendance.

“In 10 years, I want our grad class to look back and remember the great year we spent together, and the events we took part in. This will hopefully be the last grad year for many of us, so let’s make it one to remember.”
